Workplace Match Fundraising - Oxfam Trailwalker 2024

Fundraising in your workplace

workplace Matched funding

Many employers have a match funding program, where they’ll match dollar for dollar the amount raised by you or your team. Even if your employer doesn’t have such a program, they might still be willing to make a donation — all you have to do is ask!

If you’re participating as an individual or with another team, and not representing your employer, you may still be eligible for match funding from your employer. Here are some tips below to help you get started.

Who to ask

Speak to your HR or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) department and ask if your company matches funds or has a program in place to donate a certain amount to charitable causes. Let them know what you’ll be doing and who you’re supporting.

How to ask

Face-to-face is the best way to communicate your message and your fundraising goal, and to ask for support. If this isn’t possible, send an email with a link to your team page or call the appropriate person. You may be asked for a letter or email outlining your proposal, or other supporting documentation.

You can also offer to put your company’s logo on your fundraising page to publicise the fact that they’re helping you achieve your team’s goals, and making a difference to people around the world who's lives are impacted by poverty.

How we can help

We can supply information or official documentation that your company may need detailing our charitable status. We can also send you donor reports confirming the total amount your team has raised and listing all your team’s donors. We will be happy to send your employer a letter of thanks and a Certificate of Appreciation after the event upon request.
