When we come together for an extraordinary challenge like Oxfam Trailwalker, we also become part of a global movement of people working together to achieve a just, sustainable future without poverty. Each step you take can help communities change their future for the better.
Oxfam Trailwalker Australia is proud to have raised more than $100 million since 1999. With your support, Oxfam reaches 19 million people in 85 countries.
Together we are working with the First Peoples of Australia to achieve the change they seek; standing alongside women and girls so they can earn a decent living, learn and lead; ensuring justice for communities impacted by the climate crisis; and supporting communities to lift themselves out of poverty. A life-changing walk can lead to life-changing work for people all over the world.
By taking part in this extraordinary challenge you help empower people like Onano to build a sustainable future for themselves. Watch and share this video to show your supporters incredible difference you are making for people around the world.
Patricia Geli has spent her whole life in Lilisiana village,
Malaita province, Solomon Islands. Her four children
keep her busy, and she runs a local canteen. Patricia
worries about what the future holds for her homeland,
having experienced first-hand the effects of
climate change.
The kakake, a giant swamp taro, is a source of food for the villagers, but sea level rises have meant that it is becoming harder to grow. “We are badly affected by the sea level rise because it has ruined our kakakes,” Patricia said.
Thanks to your generous support, Oxfam has been working with people like Patricia in Solomon Islands and right across the Pacific to tackle the challenges of climate change.
Oxfam Australia have been working hand-in-hand with local partners to educate and train people on how to plant crops in a climate-resilient way, and we have collaborated with grassroots campaigners and civil society organisations who are determined to get their message out to the world.
With the right knowledge and tools, and with your support, the people of the Pacific can be better prepared to tackle climate change.
The climate crisis worsens the inequalities that keep people in poverty. It hits hardest the people who are least responsible for the problem, and least resourced to protect themselves from the impacts.
By participating or donating to Oxfam Trailwalker you support communities on the frontline with climate-smart solutions, while advocating to end the climate crisis.
Together, we can protect the planet and people like Patricia — let’s make our future fair, safe and equal.
